If you drive down Route 66 through Kentucky, you’ll see a multitude of churches and dive bars, an unlikely combination. Just as unlikely as the wife of a local deacon coming to a nearly deserted diner in the dead of night. This pious woman, Helen, is all alone, save for the diner’s lone occupant, the uppity waitress Lucy. Why would a woman like Helen be in a place like this? And why is Lucy working this late at night, in this deserted diner?
A play about faith, secrets, and who you really are behind society’s mask, Route 66 will make you question whether good people are truly good, and where you fall on the spectrum of faith and honesty.
